Who needs a great deodorant DIY?! Christine wanted to share her very first DIY deodorant recipe that she used before she ever created HD Soap’s deodorant!
Commercial deodorants and antiperspirants often contain several nasty chemicals, one of which is aluminum. This ingredient can be problematic because it clogs your pores to stop you from sweating – but you are supposed to sweat!
Here is an easy recipe that you can try at home, and you can even experiment with adding different essential oils, fats (shea, cocoa, coconut oil), and even try different powders. You could even skip the fats and only do the powders mixed with essential oils and apply your deodorant that way! The options are endless.
1/3 cup coconut oil
1/4 cup baking soda
1/4 cup arrowroot starch
6 to 10 drops of essential oils, if desired
Blend baking soda and arrowroot, then mash in the coconut oil until smooth. Finally, add in essential oils, or a blend of essential oils. Make sure you store your mixture in a sealable glass jar, and then simply scoop out a small amount to apply to your armpits.
