It’s time to get back out into nature and start to work on our yards!
The pesky thing about doing yard work is that our skin is not ready for it: the allergens, plants that poke and scratch, the bugs! However, gardening is so good for the heart and mind! According to WebMD, gardening:
– “Improves [your] mood. Gardening can make you feel more peaceful and content. Focusing your attention on the immediate tasks and details of gardening can reduce negative thoughts and feelings and can make you feel better in the moment. Just spending time around plants eases stress for many people.”
– “Boosts self-esteem. Self-esteem is how much you value and feel positively about yourself. Helping a plant grow is a big feat. When you see your work pay off with healthy plants, your sense of pride gets a boost.”
– “Provides exercise. Things like weeding, digging, and raking are a good exercise. Regular exercise reduces anxiety, depression, and other mental issues, and can help prevent dementia. If you don’t like going to the gym, gardening can be an enjoyable way to still get these benefits.”
What can we use to help our skin get into balance with our freshly improved heart and mind? Jewelweed From Scratch Soap
! Use the soap after working outside as a preventative cleanser; it minimizes the opportunity for a rash to spread from either a plant or a bug. Use the balm to ease red and itchy skin from a plant or bug; it helps to treat a cut or rash with this balm under a bandage. The properties of jewelweed tincture calms an itch, and the soothing scent of organic coconut oil is calming too.
It’s finally nice out! Let’s not be reluctant to enjoy it!
