Spotlight: Beeswax

We have a special guest blogger today: Mindy Tucker. Mindy has been a consultant with HD Soap for three and a half years and is absolutely obsessed with bees, which is why we thought she just had to write this spotlight on beeswax!

Today we are going to give you the buzz on the super ingredient beeswax.

Beeswax is known mostly for its conditioning properties. This ingredient also has several other benefits for the skin, including an action that helps to soften, calm, soothe, and repair skin naturally. This ingredient is multi-functional and can be used from head to toe.

Before I tell you about the amazing benefits, I am going to answer the number one question I receive about beeswax: will beeswax clog my pores? Despite some of the rumors out there, beeswax does not clog pores. Yes, it is an oil/wax-based product and some of those types of substances can clog pores, but beeswax is not one of them. What beeswax does do is protect and moisturize the skin by helping to keep moisture in the skin while simultaneously allowing it to breathe.

Below are some of the main skincare benefits of using beeswax:

When applied to the skin, beeswax forms a protective barrier that helps protect it from environmental pollutants, while also holding in moisture and reducing dryness. Think of beeswax as your skin’s bodyguard. The “bodyguard” will allow your skin to breathe and only wants the best for you. This “bodyguard” will nourish your skin, as well!

HUMECTANT (attracts water molecules)
Some ingredients “attract” water, and beeswax is one of them. Applying it attracts water molecules, helping to keep skin hydrated over time. This helps keep your skin soft, and who doesn’t want soft skin?

Beeswax naturally contains vitamin A. Vitamin A helps to speed up skin rejuvenation, prevent breakouts, support the skin’s immune system, and helps promote natural moisturizing and skin reconstruction. The natural anti-inflammatory properties of beeswax encourage repair wounded skin.

If you suffer from dry, itchy, or sensitive skin, beeswax is for you. Because beeswax is naturally anti-allergenic, it is easily tolerated by those with reactive skin.

Beeswax is naturally anti-inflammatory and it is known to fight germs, making it ideal for cleaning and repairing cuts and scrapes.
