We have really enjoyed making our candles in-house these last few months, and we hope you are enjoying them, too!
We use soy wax because it is both natural and renewable. And, since soy wax comes from soybeans, your purchase also supports American farmers!
Traditional paraffin wax is actually made from petroleum oil, which produces toxic byproducts when it is burned or melted; currently there are 11 known toxins released as byproducts. The good news about soy wax is that it has no harmful or toxic byproducts at all because it is made from a vegetable and contains nothing artificial! This means that our candles are also 100% non-toxic for you and your family.
Unlike many candles that create black soot as they burn, soy wax burns very clean since it is non-toxic and contains no harmful chemicals. This means you don’t have to worry about it ruining your curtains, walls, or carpets. And since it burns cleanly, it means that our candles will burn longer with less waste!
Another property of soy wax is that it possesses a lower melting point than paraffin wax; this means it is safer if it should get spilled accidentally, or if you get the hot wax on your skin.
Speaking of melting, one tip to make your candle last longer is to make sure you always burn it long enough to melt the wax all the way to the edges of the glass when you burn it the first time.
Our soy wax is also FDA-approved and kosher certified! We only add all-natural fragrance oils, so even the fragrance is plant-based. These have a nice, light scent that make it not as overwhelming for those with scent sensitivities.
Our wick is made of cotton, so again, no added toxins to see here! Another tip to help your candle last longer, keep the wick trimmed at 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch, even while it is burning; if you are continuously burning, trim at least every four hours.
