Maybe you are familiar with olive oil in the kitchen and the benefits it can offer for your health, but did you know there are many great reasons you should be using it on your skin?
Olive oil has been used in skincare for thousands of years. It is rich in vitamins and is a natural antioxidant, which means it removes potentially damaging agents that exist in the environment. It hydrates skin without clogging pores, it fights bacteria and blemishes, it may help with wrinkles, and it brightens your skin. Research shows that putting products with olive oil on your skin after you have been in the sun may even help fight off sun damage!
Olive oil is also good at breaking down waxy substances like waterproof mascara and eyeliner, which is why many of our customers rave about using our Orange Olive Oil Balm an eye makeup remover, as well as a moisturizer. It is great for delicate skin around the eyes, plus it nourishes your eyelashes as an added bonus.
Don’t forget about your hair! Olive oil is a key ingredient in our Hair Serum which can help damaged, brittle, dry hair. You can even use regular olive oil as a conditioning treatment by warming ½ cup (be careful not to boil it!) before applying it throughout your hair. Cover your hair with plastic, like a grocery bag or plastic wrap, and then wrap your head in a towel. Allow the oil to penetrate your hair for 45 minutes before shampooing and rinsing thoroughly.
Olive oil also works great for shaving, which is why our Shaving Soap is a great one to add to your skincare routine. And don’t forget your nails! Use one of our olive oil balms around your nails, since olive oil also helps keep your cuticles healthy and encourages healthy nail growth!
This oil is in our soaps, scrubs, essential oil rollers, serums, and many of our balms. On average, we use about 36 gallons every month making our handmade items; just last week we used 24 gallons, but this winter we will go through twice that much!
