Thankfulness and Gratitude

Thanksgiving is tomorrow, and for many it is a time to reflect upon which we are thankful: family, friends, health, food, and so forth. The definition of the word thankful means “pleased and relieved.”

This Thanksgiving, let’s take it a step further and challenge each other to be grateful. Gratitude is a “readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.” While thankfulness reflects on what you have taken in, gratitude is wanting to give back and act on that thankfulness.

Here are some ways that our HD consultants and employees have given back to their family, friends, and community as they share what they are grateful for this Thanksgiving season!

STRENGTHENING FRIENDSHIPS:
“I am grateful for friendships made because of Hilltop. Karly and I have known each other a bit, but since I started chatting with her more about HD, and then about life, we became much closer. She’s been a rock for me while dealing with my dad’s illness and ultimately losing him, and [also about] motherhood of three littles. Incredibly thankful HD reconnected us.” (Jami)

“I love the friendships that were strengthened and friends that I reconnected with because of HD!” (Karly)

“I love knowing Christine and Dan… meaning, knowing who makes the products, [and] feeling like they are friends. They care about their consultants and customers so very much! And it shows.” (Dawn)

PRIORITIZING FAMILY:
“I am honestly thankful for the money it has provided us. I have been able to work my other work part time to one or two days a week instead of needing a 30 to 40 hour-a-week job. That is priceless to me. It has also has been de-stressing to me. Running a household with a large family is no joke, and it has been a big creative outlet to me.” (Sarah)

“The flexibility that HD offers – I can work my business when I want, and take breaks when I want. There’s no push to recruit and beg others to join.” (Dana)

“Hilltop has given me the opportunity to choose to stay at home during this season of my life. I am so grateful that I have been able to be more available for my kids as they navigate middle school, and to also volunteer more at our church. I have also been able to support my family and help my dad as we placed my mom in a nursing home this fall.” (Michelle)

AUTHENTICITY AND VULNERABILITY:
“The ability to use my creativity and be myself when selling. I have learned so much about myself and being authentic. Also pushing myself to study and learn!” (Dana)

“I’m grateful that I found employers who work around my cystic fibrosis. I wouldn’t feel comfortable at another job telling them I’m actually sick and need to recoup. I also don’t think I could ever find other bosses who know when I need a day off before I even recognize it. Or make sure I take care of myself first. Finding a job while having cystic fibrosis is a battle between working enough hours to support yourself while still doing all of your daily treatments, meds, rest, and eating 3,000+ calories a day. I will be forever grateful for this job no matter where my future takes me!” (Tammy)

“I am incredibly thankful for the customer relationships I have and continue to build. 90% of my customers I didn’t even know prior to Hilltop. I get to know them and their stories, and they get to know mine, which is so incredibly rewarding. I don’t just want to love on their skin, I want to love on them. At the end of the day, it’s about people and how you make them feel, not sales.” (Mindy)

This Thanksgiving, what are you not just thankful for, but what motivates you to action; what are you grateful for?
