HD Soap uses three types of clays in several of our products! You can find bentonite clay and two kinds of kaolin clay in our ingredient lists.
White kaolin clay is also known as China clay. It is composed of silica, iron, magnesium, calcium, sodium, zinc and other minerals, which promote healing. This clay is very delicate, which is good news if you have sensitive skin – especially if you want to lightly exfoliate. It also helps with elasticity of the skin and is great for people who struggle with dry skin. Our Peppermint From Scratch Soap is made with white kaolin clay.
Red or “rose” kaolin clay is great for detoxifying your skin! In fact, this is one of the best clays if you have acne prone skin. This soap absorbs deep into the epidermis layer of your skin and removes excess oil. Our Bergamot From Scratch Soap is where you can find red kaolin clay if you want to try it for your skin.
Both the red and white kaolin clay are insoluble, have excellent absorbent qualities, and provide many other skin benefits! One of the best uses of kaolin is its ability to remove the impurities from the skin gently without stripping the skin of its natural oils.
Our final type of clay is our bentonite clay, which is actually made from volcanic ash! It removes toxins from your skin, deep cleans pores, treats blemishes, naturally reduces inflammation, helps with skin regeneration, and may help reduce scar tissue and stretch marks! This is a great clay for oily skin. Bentonite clay is found in our Activated Charcoal From Scratch Soap, Charvocado From Scratch Soap, Spinach and Sea Kelp Dry Mask, and both our Cypress and Balance Deodorants.
These clays are so amazing for skin, and you might just see more clay products from HD Soap in the future!
