The Future of HD Soap, Part Three: Moving Forward In Faith

Welcome to part three of Christine’s four-part essay about what’s been going on behind the scenes at HD Soap! (If you missed part one or part two, they’re on the blog!)

One afternoon in early December someone told me about a space in Wayland; it felt SO random, I initially thought, “God, is this you? Is this where we are going? Is this an open door to walk through?”

I began to pray over this space, and, while it was on the smaller size, Wayland is a fun town, and we could make it work. It looked like a God-sized lead. I was excited to pursue it, get into this space, and move! But for the next month, I reached out and heard nothing back. Nothing. Door closed.

During the last week in December, I was certain we were headed for closing. God hadn’t said it directly, but I also had nowhere to go. I tentatively planned out the next three months, because I felt God asking me to. I moved forward with planning when in all actuality I just wanted to do nothing. It was a really low time for me. I decided I needed something fresh like a goal or with fasting and prayer and more Bible time. That is when I decided 2024 was the year I would read the Bible from Genesis to Revelations. I started in Genesis a bit before the new year. All of the familiar stories felt so good to read again. It was during this time in Genesis, I felt the Lord giving me the word “NEW” and even a verse to tag along with it.

Isaiah 43:19 – “See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the wasteland.”

God was on the move, and boy, was He ever. On January 2, I had my monthly prayer meeting in the nursing homes, and at the end, I asked if the women there would pray for my situation. I was about ten days from letting my sales team know sales will go on as normal because we have found a new space OR that January would have our last new release day, February would be our last month of selling, and in March I would have to clean up and close Hilltop for good.

These ladies are prayer warriors, and it felt good to leave my prayer needs with them. I clung to my Isaiah verse knowing that God was ahead of me making my pathways straight, I just had to keep moving forward in faith.

On Wednesday, January 3, God gave me the name of someone to contact. They had a retail space just a block away from me, and I was certain it was about the same size as the Wayland space that I hadn’t heard back from. I reached out to her and asked for the landlord’s information so that I could see if it was still for rent.

Stay tuned for the final installment on Sunday!
