Coconut oil is another staple ingredient here at HD Soap! In fact, we go through 750 gallons per MONTH on average, and that is not a typo!
This oil is in many of our soaps, scrubs, lotion bars, lip balms, body butters (our butter season is coming soon!) and balms.
There are two important components in coconut oil that are beneficial:
Antioxidants: these are what fight free radicals and help reduce the signs of aging! They help stop cell damage (the damage that happens naturally in our environment) by removing “waste” in our cells (free radicals) before they harm your body.
Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCTs): these are healthy fatty acids that also are antioxidants with antibacterial properties. MCTs are lightweight and nourishing, and they moisturize and condition without feeling greasy. Coconut oil has several fatty acids, but here are two important ones:
- Lauric Acid: known for its moisturizing abilities. It also fights blemishes because it is antimicrobial!
-
Caprylic/Capric Acid: antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory. This is an emollient and replenishes the skin.
SKIN CARE
The MCTs in coconut oil moisturize and condition your skin while also protecting your skin. Coconut oil helps fight aging, various skin issues, and even has a tiny bit of natural sun protection! It naturally fights against bacteria, fungus, and viruses, while also soothing itches and inflammation thanks to its vitamins and natural acids. All of this helps repair broken skin and nourishes at the same time. This oil also aids in soothing inflamed rashes and any accompanying redness, irritation, or itching. It also helps moisturize skin and repair wounds.
HAIR CARE
Coconut oil is one of the best ways to put nutrients into your hair! The fatty acids actually condition your hair from the inside out! It puts good proteins into your hair, as well as fighting an itchy, flaky scalp and promoting hair growth.
STRESS RELIEF
The natural aroma of coconut oil is soothing. It is commonly used in massage, and it can even be massaged into your head to help relieve mental fatigue.
There are so many reasons you need to try our many products that contain coconut oil; there is a reason we go through so much in a month!
